New York Public Library Midtown Campus Renovation

The reimagining of New York Public Library's Midtown Campus includes the renovation of the historic and iconic Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on 42nd Street and the central circulating branch, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library, across 5th Avenue.

BBB, in collaboration with Mecanoo, will transform NYPL's Midtown Campus to increase public space and house the well-attended programs that have expanded in recent years. Expanded and reconsidered children's and teen centers will address the spectrum of learning from early childhood through lifelong learning. The plan will create a modern library experience in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, while retaining the pre-eminence of the historic central research library and revitalizing the largest circulating library in the NYPL system.
